    Garrison Resource Guide?

I'm seeing a pattern in characters that I am now leveling after getting my first couple of "mains" to 100. I've built up so much rested XP with these "alternates" that I've found myself outpacing the guides, which is a good thing . For example, I can almost reach level 94 (only needing about about 10% more XP to reach 94) using the Alliance Shadowmoon Valley guide. As a result, I've skipped large amounts of content in areas such as Gorgrond, Talador and Spires of Arak. In doing so, I've found that I've limited myself when I finally reached 100 when it comes to garrison resources, which is not a good thing . Typically, I have approximately 1000 resources when I ding 100, if I'm luck, and it takes me awhile to obtain the resources needed to level my garrison buildings.

A Garrison Resource guide, specifically targeting quests that awarded garrison resources for quest completion, would help tremendously. Other than going back and trudging through and completing all the content that I skipped, is there anything like that available so I could obtain the maximum amount of resources available via questing? If not, I could definitely see the usefulness of a guide such as this.

    Just a suggestion.

    Thanks!

Try using the Grand Treasure Hunter achievement guide to help with garrison resources. That will get you 200 of the treasure chests laying around WoD zones and those have resources in them and you can build up resources quickly by hitting up that many chests.

Also you can build a lumber mill or if you have a surplus of other resources a trading post to get some extra garrison resources.
If you don't need those buildings later you can easily replace them.
And don't do every possible follower mission, prioritize the really good missions or missions that reward resources.

The Gorgrond quest line gives you a book Comprehensive Outpost Assembly Notes which allows you to upgrade your level 1 barracks to a level 2 at the end. Talador after you battle with the Ogres you get a second Outpost Assembly Notes... I use the first to upgrade my medium building at the end of Shadowmoon Valley or Frostfire Ridge. I generally save the Outpost Assembly Notes for my level 2 upgrades of medium and large buildings. You get another at the middle of Spires of Arak. The last Comprehensive Outpost Assembly Notes you get in Nagrand after the third quest. There are also followers that you get from doing certain side quests too. So by skipping sections you are not getting the best use of your money.

Here are some ways to get more Garrison resources...

            1) Get the stable and do the mount quests every day until you obtain the mounts then the daily quests go away. You can farm up to 1600 resources and 6 new mounts

            2) Another way is finding all the shredder piles in Gorgrond. I'll repost what I found on the web regarding this below. I did them all and got a ton of resources.

            3) You can also recruit followers with the "scavenger" trait from your tavern. They return 100% increase in garrison resource quests.

            4) The level 1 Lumber Mill: chopping down trees and turn them into work orders grant 20 resources each. That's a maximum of 120/day. Phylarch the Evergreen as a follower assigned to the building will grant 30 resources per work order.

            5) The level 1 Trading Post allows you to trade in 5 of a crafting reagent (randomly changes every day) for 30 resources per work order. That is a maximum of 180/day.

            6) Get an addon that shows rares and go kill rares for up to 20 resources each kill. With all the rares available you can make up to 2000 resources just doing that!

            7) Quest out each zone in Draenor. Some quests will give resources AND do ANY wanted quests on wanted posters. There is one in Spires of Arak in a building that gives 28 gold and 100 Garrison resources per guy. Suggested 3 players but I soloed them you probably could as well.

I would LOVE to see a guide that specifically addresses the garrison resource issue. It would be cool if the treasure hunter guide could be filtered to just to have the garrison resource finds and then add the once from Gorgrond as listed below...

Credit goes to the original poster for this Shredder data which I pasted below. These do not show up in handynotes etc...

Your outpost choice in Gorgrond gives you either a shredder or a barbarian. Each of these has the ability to open special containers which hold garrison resources. These are not listed in the DraenorTreasure handy note, but are well worth mentioning.

You will net 550-ish resources with the shredder, and around 500 with the other guy. I personally chose the shredder, and once you are 100 you have the option of re-rolling your outpost for the ridiculous cost of 10,000g. I did not choose to do this, so the second way points are un-tested. The shredder way points however are perfect.

            Shredder:

connectix, thank you for all the information. I'll try to put what you've posted here to good use. With that said, I'm in total agreement with you, I'd still love to see a portion of the guide dedicated specifically to garrison resources. One of the reason I purchase the guides is to minimize the amount of time I spend in game doing whatever it is I need to do at the time and farming garrison resources currently is consuming much of my in game time, especially for my lower level alternates or newbie 100's.

It would seem to me that a section addressing resources would be easy enough to make and incorporate a lot of the suggestions you have posted above. For instance, the way points in Gorgrond could be added as farming routes. As it is now, in order to use these way points, I'll have to add Tom-Tom or some other addon. These way points my already be in the gold guide but I haven't quite decided whether or not to add that guide as an option, yet.

While questing out of the areas is an option, I'd like to be able to specifically target quest that reward garrison resources only. I have tried using the Treasure Finder portion of the guide, as Zygor suggested, but not being able to filter the mix of treasures and garrison resources provides a less than optimal solution.

I've also built Inn's for a couple of my alternates, as suggested, in order to obtain followers with the scavengers trait but find myself in catch-22 situation in which I need to upgrade the followers to run the more profitable resource missions but need to spend resources, at the bunker, to get these upgrades.

I really appreciate your suggestions and additional information, though. Here's hoping to see something incorporated into the guides at a future date.

Blizzard has upped the amount of resources you get from the Lumber Mill. It is 30 instead of 20, or 45 with Phylarch the Evergreen instead of 30.
