We are not allowed to communicate with servers outside of the game, which would be needed to add this functionality. We are working to make our client to show notifications for when an update is needed.

Really! "Healbot" is an addon that I use does give an ingame notice when new version came out. I though you guys can do the same :-)

You are using the Curse client to manage your addons then. Zygor Guides does not have access to this functionality.

Actually carbonite does. And you can't use curse to update it. Some how they give you a in game notice. Comes up on screen and gives you a notice in your chat box.

What those addons do that show the update notice in game is simply communicate with each other over a chat channel. If you look at the custom chat channels with Carbonite loaded you'll see 2 channels that are normally not activated in your chat box, so you never see the messages being displayed. One of those channels is used for Carbonite to communicate with other users to display their locations on the map and what mobs they're fighting. The other channel is used for each Carbonite to send out what version it is. If someone sends out info that they're running a more current version than yours then your Carbonite will display the in game notice about a new version being available. All communication between the addons is handled in game which gets them around the restriction of communicating with outside servers.

Curse does manage it, as I use it on my healers, and I get the notification in chat for updates, and update it using curse. I also do not have carbonite, so this is how I know about curse.com.

He meant that you can't update Carbonite thru Curse. It will monitor your install for updates but always sends you to the WoWInterface page to update Carbonite manually.

I'm a long time user of carbonite, great addon, and what Cabby says is true. The curse manager will let you know when it needs updating, other than that, you're on your own lol

Carbonite is so intense with its abilities that I just never took the time to set it up in a manner to make me happy. One day, when I have all 50 of my allotted toons to 85, max gear, and hit the gold cap on all of them, I might go back and find out how to set it up. LOL
