Client stuck on Welcome

Whenever I try to launch the client it hangs on Welcome and the client never fully starts. I have tried everything from disabling antivirus to uninstalling and reinstalling. I have also tried numerous times to run it as administrator. I have also tried updating Java then running it to no avail. Help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Try opening the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Escape) and in the Processes tab (pre-Win8) or the Details tab (Win8 or Win10) find the java.exe process that is running. When you find it end that process then try running the client again.

Can you post some pictures of where it gets stuck and what you're seeing?

it gives me a windows notification saying there is an update

but sits on this screen, even left it open for hours waiting to see if it would eventually load
