AOE Mage leveling or Zygor?

Hi all. I typically use Zygor for all my leveling, but I am wondering if it's faster than AOE mage grinding. Right now I'm doing around 16k exp per hour as frost AOE in the only spot that's not super contested. Would going a single target spec and just blasting through the guides be faster?
