Guide suggesting I buy stuff

Not a bug, just a curious thought: why does the guide ask me to in Duskwood (alliance) to buy a Mericless Axe and at some other point (forget which guide) a sword in Ironforge named Flameberge?

Any items the guide has you purchase are for quests. For example on Alliance side it will have you pop into Nethergarde to pick up ale that will be used for a quest later in Hellfire.

How long am I holding onto the axe and flamberge then? The vendor and equipiment modules keep yelling at me about them.

I do not know how long you need to hold onto those particular items but if you get a suggestion to use it just click on Decline and then the gear system will stop suggesting it.
