Ive been using the JC guide with little problem at all. Done every possible daily available.
Can you specify what coords you went to?"The voices in my head may not be real, but they have some good ideas." -
There are various possible places/mobs to drop some of the JC dailies so depending upon the quest also pay attn to what you are killing. I have done silly things like kill proto drakes for 15 minutes then realize I need to go kill mammoths because I was not paying attention

Where did the guide send you?
This item drops off of elementals, so it can be found almost anywhere they can be found. I usually hit them up in Storm Peaks while doing the Sons of Hodir dailies. But havealso done them in Sholazar Basin, Howling Fjord, Dragonblight, and Wintergrasp just to name a few places.My tanks:

Perhaps you went to the waypoint right after one or two other toons got there to farm for that item.
