Starting from Stormwind and gathering the quest from the hero board, its pathing want's you to go to the Hyjal portal and fly 8.2 miles down. Other times the pathing just wanted me to go to Hyjal then back to Stormwind.
I find that another good way to get to Uldum being taking the Northrend boat, flying to Dalaran and using the portal to the Caverns of Time and flying to Uldum.
