How does the guide pick up my current progress? When i got the guide i was level 55. Where do i begin?

Just click the arrow next to the flash button in the viewer window to open the guide selection screen, then click the suggest button there.
You will get a selection of guides suitable for your level. Just pick one.
The guide will automatically detect quests you already done in that zone and skip them.
