when I bandage the NPC, I need to bring it back to the Doc asap. Zygor tells me to head to the next NPC, and my original NPC dies

Did you advance one step manually after using the bandage?
The step includes the following:
use the bandage
escort the crusader
the goal completed line
The guide should advance only if the goal is complete, not after using the bandage.
If you need a waypoint to the doctor just click on the coordinates in the escort line.
