There does not seem to be any guide to activating this and using it.

If you go into the Profession > Protoform Synthesis section of the guide selection window and load one of the Schematic guides that will make sure you have it unlocked for the mounts. It looks like the guides are still in the works for the battle pet unlock of the forge.
