Guide vanishing once pet acquired..?

Love your guides.
I've noticed though, that when you capture a pet for the first time, the zygor guide viewrr button disappears from it in the pet journal. Some of the pets I have are 'poor', and I'm wanting to go back around and try for rare and use the guides to tell me the best place to find them...
any suggestions? I try to load the guide manually through the guide viewer frame itself, and it just throws me back to the pet journal!
p.s. it would also be great if there was some info on the possible qualities of the pet (ie wild ones can be poor-rare, some vendor ones are uncommon only, some you get from battling the trainers can be epic/legendary etc). It would be helpful to know so you don't waste time battle-farming trying to get a rare when the max quality you can get is uncommon or something
