Whenever a new World of Warcraft expansion is released there’s nothing quite like the thrill of firing it up for the first time and exploring all of the new content. In fact, it’s clear that the game creators want you to do this which is why they always make it so you can’t use flying mounts until you reach the new level cap. Unfortunately, this also has the negative side effect of making your mobility in the game feel gimped.
Luckily, there’s going to be a nice middle ground in the upcoming Warlords of Draenor expansion. While flying mounts still won’t be allowed right away regular riding mounts will be and in the last expansion Blizzard introduced the Water Strider, a mount that can traverse over water. Research from the WoD beta has shown that many of the new zones are broken up by rivers, lakes, and other bodies of water, so you will definitely want to obtain a Water Strider mount before the expansion is released so you can take shortcuts.

i just preordered and updated my guides and still no strider mount guide. am i missing something. I updated my leveling guides only
seems to be no end date
are you talking about flying in wod or tthe whole wow?
In all new expansions you cannot fly in the new zones until you reach max level. You’re essentially restricted to ground mounts because Blizzard wants you to explore all the new content. Of all the ground mounts the water strider is the best one for WoD because it can travel over water and the new WoD zones have a lot of areas blocked by water.

Maybe I’m missing something but all the guide seems to do is lead to the Anglers area and tell me to get Exalted. There are no guides for the dailies like I’ve become accustomed to.
That may be why it’s free. The dailies are not very hard. Just pick up all of the ones that are available and look at the area map. Then do them in an order that brings you back to the Anglers area with them done. While you are doing your other activities, you may want to search wowhead to find the places to fish the quest giving fish to turn in to Nate for his rep. This takes quite awhile to get up.
So I went and checked with the vendor, and their is only one colour to chose from, that’s the azure water strider!

In order to take advantage of the free guide for obtaining a Water Strider, do I have to own something different?
I would like to begin my farming for this Mount.
You need to update your guide, which should then download the updated version of the Free Trial. You will then see the Water Strider guides under Pets & Mounts / Mounts / Mists of Pandaria / Ground Mounts. If you still don’t see it, try clicking the wrench icon on the client and reinstalling.
Doh.. never mind.. updating is a magnificent thing.
