Hey, ranting is good. I like to hear a good rant. I can also see complaining if Zygor only had to add 5 levels onto the guide. Unfortunately, they had to add 2 new races into leveling, deal with the changing of zones in 1 to 60 leveling, and add the leveling from 80-85. The $20 is easily worth the money.

The upgrade only includes the 5 new levels and the starting zones of the new races. If I'm correct, then even without the upgrade, 1-80 is still covered, this is what makes the price seem unbalanced. :/

Those 80 levels have no upgrade fee because customers have already payed for those 80 levels, and we offer lifetime updates to all purchased levels. Until now, no one has been charged for levels 80-85, or the lifetime updates included with them. That is where the $20.00 upgrade fee comes in, for the expanded guide and the continued service.

Also, levels 80-85 are not comparable to say, levels 1-5, which can be completed in a little over 30 minutes. 80-85 will last you days., and I'm talking /played time days. The vast majority of customers are happy with how we have handled things. We're sorry if you feel the price is unjustified.

Blizzard have stated that leveling from 80 to 85 will take about the same as from 70 to 80. Based on that, there is a LOT of content to get through from 80 to 85. So while the number of levels is low, the effort required for Zygor and co to write the guide is very high.

It's just compensation for the staff for the amount of work that has to be done for the expansions. Although users of the 1-80 guide get the updates for free, just think of the amount of work involved to get the product ready for us. The team makes a goal to develop the guides before the beta closes and before release of the product, and with an expansion like Cataclysm, that means they needed to not only rewrite the entire 1-80 portion of the guide, but also add two new starting races PLUS the 80-85 which is just like 70-80 right now (aka Northrend).

Personally, I'd say $20 to compensate the team for the efforts they provide toward us is perfectly "balanced" so to speak. The team even provides us with a different theme of website/forum to fit the expansions and throws in additional bonus guides as well. Someone used an example of Microsoft's operating system upgrades which is actually a perfect example. You buy Windows XP which is great at the time, but new things come out and operating systems upgrade (Vista) so you have to pay X amount of dollars for that upgrade. You still get free updates for Windows XP, even new service packs occasionally (1-80 section of the guides post-cataclysm), but if you want the upgraded version you pay a small fee for it.

*shrug* Business is business, and for what the team has given us I'd say that we should just say thanks and go about playing Cataclysm and being the first 85s on the servers :P.

Your hard work is totally worth every penny! The amount of time I have saved leveling 10 Alliance toons and 3 Horde toons has made this more than worth it! Some of us who have bought your guides really do appreciate your hard efforts and feel your charges are more than reasonable!

Anyone who purchased the guide on or after October 7th 2010 get the cata updates for free, so it means you already have the upgrade and don't need to pay for anything.

All right, well the price is not as bad as I thought it would be. I went ahead and preordered this. so when Cataclysm is out and I have it installed and rdy to go will the zygor updater auto install the cata guide for me? or do i need to come here to download it first? How will this work?

Hi I can't buy the Horde Dailies and Events guide as the WOTLK guide has expired on Click Bank but no replacement has been created. I realise that I won't get a guide to the Cata dailies yet but I want to buy the guide to use for the WOTLK dailies.

Just upgraded. $30 is a bargain - I can easily spend that on a night out
