Crafting
In Crafting you will utilize your Crafting professions to make valuable items that can be sold for large profits. This is the first of the more advanced gold making methods and there are two main points to keep in mind:
- This section requires that you have at least one Crafting profession (Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Cooking, Engineering, Jewelcrafting, Leatherworking, and Tailoring) and ideally have leveled it to max level. For the best way to power level your Crafting we recommend Zygor's Profession and Achievements guide.
- It is highly recommend that you have a companion Gathering profession in order to farm materials.
Gathering Profession | Crafting Profession | |
---|---|---|
Fishing | Cooking | both are secondary and do not count against two profession limit |
Herbalism | Alchemy | Fishing also provides some materials for Alchemy |
Herbalism | Inscription | |
Mining | Blacksmithing | |
Mining | Engineering | |
Mining | Jewelcrafting | |
Skinning | Leatherworking |
It's important to note that even though the guide will attmpt to provide you with the best items to craft, the World of Warcraft marketplace is impossible to predict whether items will sell, and crafted items are less of a guarentee than farmed items.
Scanning For Current Pricing Data
Before using any section of Zygor's Gold and Auctions guide you should scan the Auction House to make sure you have the latest prices. To get the latest pricing data you need to speak with an Auctioneer. You can easily find one by clicking the Find NPC button on the guide viewer and selecting Auctioneer. The Travel System will use the waypoint arrow to direct you to the closest Auctioneer.
When you bring up the Auction House panel you should see the Zygor Auction Tools snapped to the right. If you do not, click the Z tab to open them up. We will go into more detail about the Auction Tools in a later section, for now, click the Scan button to update your pricing data.
This should only take a few seconds to process, and you can monitor the progress with the Status Bar at the bottom of the Auction Tools. When it finishes the Last Update time should say "less than a min ago". Now you're ready to start making gold.
How To Read The Crafting Interface
Unlike other sections, you will need to open your profession trade skill window before attempting to use the Crafting guide. This will allow the guide to see what recipes you know.
Click the Crafting button at the top of the Gold Guide menu to access the Crafting guides. The guides are displayed in a table format and organized into several columns of information. Here's a breakdown of what each column means:
- Recipe
-
Here you will see the recipe names for the items to be crafted.
- Status
-
The guide will display status indicators for each recipe to denote important information:
- Green
-
This status means that that the recipe has all the needed ingredients to create it currently available on the Auction House. Make sure your pricing data is always up to date so that you see accurate results here.
- Yellow
-
This status means you do now know the recipe to make this item. In most cases where it's possible the guide will include a walkthrough for obtaining the recipe.
- Red
-
This status means that not all of the needed ingredients are available on the Auction House so you will need to farm some of them. The guide will include a walkthrough for obtaining the farmed ingredients.
- Cost
-
This is how much it will cost to create the item if you buy all the ingredients that are available on the Auction House.
- Profit
-
This is the estimated amount you will make after the cost of creation has been factored in.
Advanced Crafting Tooltips:
You can see the descriptions for the status indictators as well as the full ingredients lists by hovering over each guide in the list.In the case of items that you need to farm a red (*) indicator will appear before the item name.
- Each
-
This column will show you how much each item costs per unit.
- Total
-
When you need to purchase multiple units this column will display the total cost of all the units.
Sorting Crafting Results
The Gathering section has two modes of display: Easy and Expert.- Easy
-
In Easy mode, only items you know the recipes for that have all of their ingredients available to buy on the Auction House are shown.
- Expert
-
In Expert mode, all items are shown, which means you may have to obtain recipes or farm ingredients before being able to craft.
You can also filter the results by the type of item you want to farm by professions.
Using The Crafting Guides
Once you've decided which item you want to craft, double click the entry in the list to load it, or click the orange Load Guide button.
The guide will then open into the Zygor Guides Viewer. At this point you will need to follow the instructions displayed on the guide step which will you walk you through the full process required to create the item.
After you've created the item it's time to sell it on the Auction House to make your profit. Zygor's Gold and Auctions Guides provides a number of tools to help you with selling your crafted items.
Click here to begin learning about them or proceed to the next section to learn about Auctions.
